Project Research/Brainstorming

Over the past few weeks in class, my group and I have worked on a project called the Music Marketing Project, where we create a brand and plan to make it successful. Our group had to create a brand based in country music. Although we did not have a dedicated place to write our ideas, we got many of them from the case studies we completed at the beginning of the project. (Case studies shown below) After the case studies were completed, we began planning the rest of the project with a schedule (Also shown below) that helped us keep track of when things should have been done. For the most part, we were able to keep up with the schedule and finished the PowerPoint by the 27th.

Next, it would be beneficial to discuss the remaining parts of the project. There is only one major part of the project left, but it could prove to be the most challenging part as well. The final part is the music video, where we must create a music video for a song within our genre, which in this case is “Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum. We created a storyboard for our video (as seen below) and need to stick to it when making the video. There are a few challenges with this though. First, we need to get our entire group in one place at the same time. Considering how the story consists of two girls and a guy, everyone needs to be present to fill the roles, and one person needs to be the camera person. If we have even one person missing, the project could end up being sub par. Second, we need to sure the editing of the video is done well. Even if we film all the scenes perfectly, bad video editing could be the downfall of our project, making or breaking it. As a result, we decided to let the person in the group with the most experience be the person who edits the video.

Finally, it would be a good idea to address the challenges that we’ve faced in thd project so far.  The first challenge we faced was the first thing we did, the research charts. This was a challenging because only one person in our group had familiarity with the country music genre. Fortunately, once we found out who we were doing the case studies on, we were able to  quickly gather research and complete the case studies that would assist us with the rest of the project. The next major challenge was creating the storyboard. Making the story was easy, but we had to match it with the lyrics and the tempo of the song. This proved difficult, but were eventually able to get about 1 minute and fifty seconds of the storyboard that will hopefully be translated well into the actual video.

Overall, the project has proved challenging but not aggravating, which has made it a fun experience that I have learned a great amount of informational from. Soon we will start filming and we will be ready to submit and present our project sighing the coming the school days.
